About the Author-

B.J. Sheldon's love of writing has developed into a passion for creating exciting characters and story lines that she hopes will enthrall and inspire young readers to pick up a book and use their imaginations. Her debut novel, "Haunting", is based in her hometown of Hull, Iowa and focuses on a teenage girl adjusting to a new town as well as the ghost that has begun haunting her home...and her dreams.

Born in Sioux City, Iowa in 1972 and adopted thirteen days later, B.J. grew up on a farm just outside of Hull, Iowa. Later, she moved with her parents to Phoenix, Arizona where her father did various odd jobs before retiring as a freight hauler, and her mother started her own business, professionally cleaning homes. B.J. graduated from a private high school in 1990. Throughout her junior high and high school career, she could be found writing poems, short stories and novelettes on a daily basis.

In 2009, B.J. lost her job and remained unemployed for nine months. During that time, she once again discovered her love for writing and wrote her first, full-length novel for her daughter's fifteenth birthday called, “Schuyler and the Saga of the Sages”. Unable to find an agent, B.J. started looking for an idea for her next novel. One night, after a conversation with her husband about the paranormal, an idea was born and the rest was history. Over the course of the next eighteen months, B.J. developed the plot and wrote “Haunting”, a story about a teenage girl who discovers that the ghost who is haunting both her farm and her dreams has a mysterious past.

In 2011, B.J. was awarded a silver medal in the Reader’s Favorite Award Contest in the Young Adult/Fantasy category and was the only book in that genre to win an award without being a previously published work. "Haunting" will be published on April 29, 2013 by Wandering in the Words Press. Her dream is to one day attend a book signing in her home town in Iowa where she first developed her love of words.

She currently lives in New Jersey with her husband, Steven, who is a veteran of both the Iraq and Afghanistan wars, along with her three daughters, dog and two cats. Some of her favorite authors include Richard Russo, Nicholas Sparks, Suzanne Collins, JK Rowling and Guy De’Maupassant.

THEN, NOW, FOREVER (Heartbeat #2)

By Teodora Kostova

Cover by:  Cover It Designs  http://salon.io.coveritdesigns/page

Release date: September 2013

Genre: NA Contemporary Romance (17+ due to sexual situations, language and extremely hot Italian guys :P)

Synopsis:
Then
Gia had let Beppe into her life so easily, as if it was the most natural thing in the world. She’d held him when he’d hurt so badly he’d thought he might die; she’d talked him down when he’d been so angry he’d considered doing something he’d regret for the rest of his life.
 Gia had saved his life.
At least once he needed to be strong for her.
This right now, this moment, was theirs. It belonged to them, not to abusive or dead fathers, not to guilt, regret or sorrow, not to the past of the future.
But will their love survive when tragedy separates them?
“I have to go, Gia. I’m tired and I feel empty. I know you need me, but I have nothing left to give you. I need to heal.”
“I miss you so much it’s hard to breathe.”
Now
Beppe was still Gia’s closest friend. But they’d never be anything more than that again. Remembering what it felt like to have the person you love most in the world be torn away from you still hurt. Gia was determined never to be put into that position again.
There was never lack of love, but can Beppe win Gia’s trust again?

Forever
“When I was broken you gave me pieces of yourself and made me whole again.”

IN A HEARTBEAT (Heartbeat #1)

Synopsis
Stella

“I’ve been in and out of hospitals for the past ten months. I’ve had half my liver removed and even though this time the doctors are very optimistic that they’ve removed all of the tumours, they can’t be sure. In another three months they want me here again for a check up. Right now I feel better than I’ve ever felt. I know the damn thing is gone, at least for the moment. Despite that, I can’t make any plans for the future, not yet. I need to go somewhere where nobody knows me, where I can relax and maybe even forget about all this. Where I can meet people who don’t think of me as the girl who lost her father and her brother in a car accident, and who has cancer. I want to have fun, even if it’s for a couple of months.”

When Stella decides to visit her estranged cousin Lisa in Genoa, she has no idea Italy will give her a new reason to live.

Max

“Her gaze locked on a scene so beautiful, the picturesque beach paled in comparison. A lifeguard emerged from the water, his orange trunks stuck to his legs and water dripping all over him. He shook his head to get rid of some of the water in his hair and Stella felt as if everything started developing in slow motion – tiny drops of water slid from his neck down his broad chest and muscular arms, along a weaving tattoo on his right shoulder, and continued downwards towards his chest and washboard stomach, finally getting lost in the waistband of his trunks. A part of another tattoo peeked over his trunks on his left hip, the other part hidden under them. It was a total Baywatch moment.”

Their love is epic. But there are too many things keeping them apart.

“How could you keep this from me, Lisa? If you had told me the first day I met him, I would have avoided him like the plague. Nothing would have happened between us.”
“I kept your secrets, too, Stella.”

Are Max and Stella strong enough to fight not only for their love, but for their lives?

Author Bio
Hi, my name is Teodora and I live in London with my husband Ted and my son Jason. I've been writing ever since I can remember, but it became my full time job in 2010 when I decided that everything else I've tried bores me to death and I have to do what I've always wanted to do, but never had to guts to fully embrace. I've been a journalist, an editor, a personal assistant and an interior designer among other things, but as soon as the novelty of the new, exciting job wears off, I always go back to writing. Being twitchy, impatient, loud and hasty are not qualities that help a writer, because I have to sit alone, preferably still, and write for most of the day, but I absolutely love it. It's the only time that I'm truly at peace and the only thing I can do for more than ten minutes at a time - my son has a bigger attention span than me.
When I'm procrastinating, I like to go to the gym, cook Italian meals (and eat them), read, listen to rock music, watch indie movies and True Blood re-runs. Or, in the worst case scenario, get beaten at every Wii game by a five year old.

Exposure: A Modern-Day Spin on Shakespeare's Macbeth by Kim Askew and Amy Helmes

Double, double, toil and trouble. Sometimes, the quest for high school royalty can be deadly! In this emotionally-charged twist on Shakespeare’s Macbeth, a self-conscious shutterbug named Skye Kingston navigates a treacherous school year in Alaska fraught with unspoken secrets and tragic twists of fate. Along the way she encounters three strangely prophetic BFFs; one social-climbing, sociopathic cheerleader; and a heart-stopping hottie named Craig McKenzie: the man who would be Prom King. Can Skye save the boy she loves — and herself — before they get caught in the crosshairs? (from Goodreads)

Flo's Review
This is a cute, quick read. The thing that stood out for me was that even though it is based on Macbeth, it still stands -- and works well -- as a story all its own. This is important, because if, like me, you have forgotten the majority of what happens in Macbeth, then you can still enjoy this as its own story.

At the same time, it translates different characters and scenes from the Bard's play into modern-day high school very well. My favorite were the witches, who in this story are three friends of Skye's who are always laughing. Askew and Helmes are able to get them to share prophecy in a way that doesn't seem forced. I think it would be really neat to read this book when I was in high school, shortly after reading Macbeth for the first time.

Exposure is the second book in the Twisted Lit series. The first book, Tempestuous, is based off of The Tempest. The third one will come out in January 2014 titled Anyone But You.  I'm curious to see which Shakespeare play it is.

The Crown of Midnight by Sarah J. Maas

An assassin’s loyalties are always in doubt. But her heart never wavers.
After a year of hard labor in the Salt Mines of Endovier, eighteen-year-old assassin Celaena Sardothien has won the king's contest to become the new royal assassin. Yet Celaena is far from loyal to the crown – a secret she hides from even her most intimate confidantes. Keeping up the deadly charade—while pretending to do the king's bidding—will test her in frightening new ways, especially when she's given a task that could jeopardize everything she's come to care for. And there are far more dangerous forces gathering on the horizon -- forces that threaten to destroy her entire world, and will surely force Celaena to make a choice. Where do the assassin’s loyalties lie, and who is she most willing to fight for? (from Goodreads)

Flo's Review
I was lucky enough to grab a copy of this book at BEA, even though I hadn't read Throne of Glass yet. But I'd heard so many good things that I read Throne of Glass and was abundantly happy that I was able to start reading this one right away.

Long review short: Another great, great book.

The action delivers. Celaena is FIERCE, y'all. And I like it! The romance went to a new level in this book too, which was awesome! But the best part about this book was all the discoveries and plot twists! Honestly! They kept coming throughout the book and I never expected any of them. I cannot even believe the ending, you guys. How am I supposed to wait another year to see how this all continues to play out?!

About the Author

One day, on her way home from work as a sales manager, A. M. Hargrove, realized her life was on fast forward and if she didn't do something soon, it would quickly be too late to write that work of fiction she had been dreaming of her whole life.  So, she rolled down the passenger window of her fabulous (not) company car and tossed out her leather briefcase.  Luckily, the pedestrian in the direct line of fire was a dodge ball pro and had über quick reflexes enabling him to avoid getting bashed in the head.  Feeling a tad guilty about the near miss, A. M. made a speedy turn down a deserted side street before tossing her crummy, outdated piece-of-you-know-what lap top out the window.  She breathed a liberating sigh of relief, picked up her cell phone, called her boss and quit her job.  Grinning, she made another call to her hubs and told him of her new adventure (after making sure his heart was beating properly again).

So began A. M. Hargrove's career as a YA/NA and Adult Romance writer. Her books include Kissing Fire, Edge of Disaster, Shattered Edge, the series the Guardians of Vesturon (Survival, Resurrection, Determinant, Beginnings and reEmergent), Dark Waltz and the upcoming release Tragically Flawed.

Other than being in love with being in love, she loves chocolate, ice cream and coffee and is positive they should be added as part of the USDA food groups.
