COVER REVEAL: False Start by Lila Felix

Expected Release Date: Nov 22

Blurb...

Rex has firsthand knowledge of how love can rip a person to shreds. How it can swallow a person whole, leaving them gasping for air, and dying a lonely person. He watched his mother give everything she had to his father and then she died, too weak and frail to continue on. His father, the deranged man who could barely feed himself—taking care of him left a permanent crease on Rex's heart. He swears he can still hear his pleas for help in his sleep. Nothing can give him solace from the painful memories.

Except this girl.

Hayes is a constant and consistent optimist. She's witnessed her mother and father’s almost perfect marriage and taken it as an example of what she wants. But she can’t seem to find a guy who is sincere. She’s dated them all— snake-in-the-grass jerks, straight-up commitment-phobes, fakes and phonies alike. They all fit her perfect dream on the outside, but when the relationship gets to the nitty gritty, they all crumble like stale bread.
Unable to find a better man, she settles for nothing instead, wondering if a man who treats her right could even exist. With perfect parents and a team name like I Kilda Girl, that man would have a lot to live up to.

Until this boy.

When she sees a rugged, tattooed guy who shows up at all the derby bouts, she wonders if chasing the bad boy might just be right.

BOOK REVIEW: Caught In A Jam (Love and Skate #4) by Lila Felix

Goodreads Description:

I’ve loved her since we were kids. But loving someone gets tough when they don’t love you back.

Nixon Black has made mistakes. He made one mistake that would change his life forever. Now he’s working and in school—and he’s got a three year old. He gave up dating when Scout was born, but every night he retreats to another life in his mind, one he could’ve had with her.

Journey spent her formative years on the arm of any boy that didn’t expect anything out of her. She was hiding from the one person who did expect something in return—Nixon. Years after being cheated on and dumped for the last time, she takes a job at a daycare center where there’s a genius of a ginger haired girl whose last name is Black.

But the roles have been reversed and Journey is no longer Nixon’s first priority. Can he make room for the new Journey? And when he does, will he be able to forgive the old one?

MARY'S REVIEW:

I have been putting this review off since I've received the ARC of this book. It's hard for me to express and explain my love for Lila and the Love and Skate Series. Lila's stories get better and better every time. Her talent is really beyond words and I don't think I can do her justice with just a simple review.

But I'm gonna try *wink*.............

What I liked:

Oh, Nixon! Oh, Journey! I can't believe what two incredible characters these are!! I love them both so much!

Nixon and Journey have known each other for a long time AND Nixon has been in love with her the whole time. He tried to move on, but in the attempt of moving on he needed up being a single dad to his daughter Scout. He steps up and his life revolves around Scout (I LOVE THAT)

Journey has had one bad relationship after another and her "journey" has been a rocky one. Well, fate threw her a curveball when she needed up taking a job at a daycare.

Nixon and Journey begin to connect again, but it's not as simple as it seems. Things are different now. Nixon's priorities are Scout and Journey is trying to find herself.

What I didn't like:

Oh Lilla!!! I thinks its your purpose in life to make me ugly cry when I'm reading your books.

I"m sending you a bill for all the tissues I went through!!!! (I'm only half-kidding)

Oh, that Lila Felix! She's at it again, creating another masterpiece, in the Love and Skate Series!

Book Blurb:

I’ve loved her since we were kids. But loving someone gets tough when they don’t love you back."
Nixon Black has made mistakes. He made one mistake that would change his life forever. Now he’s working and in school—and he's up to his eyeballs in responsibility--in the form of a three year old, red-headed genius.

ABOUT THE AUTHOR:

Lila Felix made the decision to write a book after being encouraged by friends. She is a stay at home mom to three wild children and three boisterous dogs. Between writing books she loves read and watch sappy 80's movies. Favorite things: ice cream, anything purple, roller derby and any kind of music she can get her hands on. ABOUT LOVE AND SKATE:

Blurb:
On the rink she’s tough, she’s a leader, she’s fast and she’s the epitome of a rebellious girl. But Nellie’s been hurt, only once, but it was enough to make her look at life through different eyes and off the rink she’s a timid girl who loves with no pretenses.
A long time ago Owen Black was betrayed by the girl he thought he loved and the guy he called his best friend. The anguish set off a domino effect of negativity in his life and he never has fully recovered. He meets Nellie Forrester and thinks he can let it go for her.
But how can you love someone when the wounds from your past are still wide open?

Blurb:
Despite the odds, Reed Wolfe is making it, by the skin of her teeth. Her dreams and aspirations will have to wait until she can get on her feet. Because right now she’s homeless and churning on a downward spiral.

Falcon Black is existing. Not living, not thriving, just jutting along a path. But when he finds Reed, he can’t resist the urge to help her, lighten her load. But Falcon tends to go overboard, over the line, crossing boundaries he never thought he would and risking her trust in the process.

Can she accept his love or will it end up smothering her?

Blurb:

Maddox is running.
By accident, he discovered long ago that he was adopted as a baby and his need to find his biological father has consumed him ever since. Now, on a road trip, determined to find his father and his sanity, and armed with locations and his cousin, Nixon, to help him, maybe he can find the answers he’s been searching for. With nothing but a suitcase and a wad of cash to get him there, lead after lead takes him further from home.
But he’ll find much more than he intended.
He finds Storey, a pint sized pin-up model who has learned painful lessons about guys. Her wounds run deep, but so do his. She knows what she wants, but will she recognize it when it’s right in front of her?
Maddox can’t touch anyone without feeling like his skin is crawling, but just maybe his instinct to protect this amazing girl will supersede his own hang-ups.
If he can brush her skin and start to feel alive inside...everything will change.

MY REVIEW:

I loved the first two books!!! There both were outstanding!! When Lila announced this book, I flipped because I knew that it would be just as good as the others.

Best part of the book: The whole story was amazing!! I don't even know where to begin. I love Maddox as much as I loved Owen and Falcon. This story was not like the other ones.  Maddox and his cousin Nixon are on a road trip.  However, this was much different than a typical road trip, Maddox is searching for his biological father because he found out that he was adopted.

Maddox and Nixon head town to town but keep coming up empty. It is not until they hit the west coast they get a lead and Maddox finds Storey. LOVE her!!! She and Maddox are a perfect fit.

Now, I want to tell you every detail of this book and gush on for forever, but I won't spoil it.  Just trust me... READ IT!

I do have to say one thing. LILA FELIX did something that NO AUTHOR has done. Her epilogue is the best ever!!!! Every author will be copying her!!! Excellent job!!

Not so great about the book: There is nothing wrong with this book! Bring on the next one Lila!!

BLOG TOUR: Love and Skate by Lila Felix

Lila Felix is quickly making an awesome name for herself in the indie-author community!  I just love her!! Her latest book, Love and Skate, is another BIG HIT!

I was so lucky, on this part of the Blog Tour I was able to interview Nellie.  I just love her and she is an outstanding character!

Please enjoy!! Oh and Nellie spilled the beans on something .... READ ON!

Oh, Nellie I am so glad that you took time from you busy schedule to answer a few questions!

*What is the one thing that you love the most about being roller derby player?

Is it wrong to say the pushing?  The fighting?  The throwing myself backwards into another player and knocking them down?  A girl’s got to work off some steam, right?

*Have you even been seriously hurt while playing a game?

No, I’ve really been lucky.  I’ve seen some girls take some really bad hits though.  One girl snapped her leg and the bone stuck out.  Gross and ouch.

*What is the one thing that you love most about the bookstore?

I love the customers.  I really, really do.  We all share a common bond.

*What is your favorite book?

Jane Eyre, hands down.  The Bronte sisters knew how to write a romance.

*We all know that you love to change her hair color, but which is your favorite?

There’s this new girl, Reed on our team now and she is rocking this light orange color.  I wanna try that.  But for me, I guess blue.  Because Owen loves the blue.  Things went right for us when I had blue hair.

*What was your first thought when you finally figured out your feelings for Owen?

Bliss.  Nothing is perfect, even love, but Owen and I are perfect together.  It’s magic.

*What is your ideal perfect date with Owen?

My ideal date with Owen is simple. Whenever and wherever he is, that’s ideal.

*Will Lila be writing anymore stories of Owen and yourself?

*Looks around for Lila and then whispers* Ok, Lila would seriously whip my butt for telling you this. So, the next book is called How It Rolls and Owen and I will be in it, but it’s about Falcon.  And a hint?  You know that new girl on our team named Reed?  Yeah, that’s all I’m gonna say.

JUMPS UP AND DOWN!!! I cannot wait for the next chapter of this story!!

Mary's Review:

So, I know that y'all have seen my previous post of Lila Felix's other books, Emerge and Perchance, and how much I loved them. When she contacted me about this book I jumped at the chance.  However, there is a problem with this book that got me so upset at Lila.  I mean really upset!  Let me explain:  In Emerge she gave us Carlos and in Perchance she gave us Cooper.  Now, I was hoping to "downsize" my Fictional Boyfriend list.  Well, HOLY STARS Lila did not help with this goal of mine.  Because she wrote this amazing story and introduced me to Owen!! I swear Lila has such talented for writing amazing fictional boyfriend.

Best part of the book:  I love the whole story.  This is a very different read but with a great love story.  On the outside Nellie looks tough, with her blue hair, piercings and being a roller derby player.  However, she is not that girl at all.  She is sweet, kind and loves her friends.  The one thing that is missing is a boyfriend.  ENTER OWEN!! Oh, sexy, yummy OWEN!! I just love a fictional man with tattoos and  so sweet.  Owen  and Nellie both have a a lot of sadness in their past but still are both so kind. You can really tell they love and care for each other.  There are times when the past is too much.

Not so great part of the book:  *stomps foot* *crosses arms* *pouts* LILA MADE ME CRY! Right in the middle of my office at work.  I couldn't stop the tears!  Lila put a twist in the story I didn't see coming and I just busted into tears.  Just another reason why I should be upset with her! (I'm not really upset with her!  She is an awesome person)

IN ALL SERIOUSNESS:  This is a fantastic read and Lila Felix is such an talented and amazing story.  You will love this book and I cannot wait to see what she does next!
