A mysterious student comes to Dever. A boy whose eyes are always watching. Who is he? What secrets are hidden behind his smiles? Is he a friend or an enemy?...

MY REVIEW:

I have loved this series since the day Diana Nixon contacted me to review the
first book:  Love Lines.

Each section of the series gets better and better!

WHAT I LIKED:

Okay, I need to remain calm on this one because it was rough.

I am not going to give anything away. I know my last review was a little

I love Diana Nixon's creativity imagination and this story is top notch.

Eileen, Christian and Evan are all back and better than ever!! There are
a lot of secrets and some twists that I was not
prepared for.

GREAT GREAT STORY!

WHAT I DIDN'T LIKE:

BLOG TOUR: Love Lines Series by Diana Nixon

I just love Diana Nixon and her series so much!  Each book just keeps getting better and better.  Being part of this tour is a real honor for me!

With this stop of the tour, you will be reading a teaser from each of the books in the series (thus far)

Love Lines (Love Lines #1):

There were about ten students in the audience. They all stood in a circle, in the center of which there was a large crystal bowl full of water. Evan and I came closer to see better what was happening there.

All of the students one by one approached the bowl and dipped their hands into the water. Then everybody pulled wet hands in front of them, and began to create some figure with their eyes closed. Watching Christian work yesterday, it seemed to me that the fire was like coming out of his hands, but now the students were using a different method. The water in the bowl rose into the air with a million drops that scattered in the opposite directions. Each drop was transformed into an element of a future image. When all the drops were like little stars, a few people raised their hands above, as if they were pulling over a portion of them. As a result, the stars transformed into the words, and the words, in their turn - into the whole sentence.

“Per aspera ad astra,” I read aloud.
“Through the thorns to the stars,” translated from the Latin Evan.

Songs of the Wind (Love Lines #2)

Amanda gave me one of those evil glances in response, but said nothing. A second later her pillow hit my back.

“Oh, I know you are crazy about me!” I said, turning around and catching it half way to the floor. “And you are flirting with me! Wanna play, babe?” I teased her with a lazy smile. “I like throwing pillows. I can imagine you and me, fighting in a downy sea. Sounds tempting, huh? That would be a hilarious night!”

She knew I wasn’t serious and despite her bad mood and exhaustion she laughed genuinely and said, “In your dreams, Evan, in your dreams.”

“Well, I think it’s time for me to go,” Tara said, heading for the door. “I’m not in a mood for throwing pillows.” She smiled. “And I have to find a spare room to stay in.”
“Do you want me to accompany you?” I suggested hesitantly.

She stopped, her hand already on the doorknob.

"Thanks, Evan, but I remember where the guest rooms are.”

“Looks like someone has just been brushed off.” Amanda giggled from under her blanket.

“I would really appreciate if you’d just go to sleep and stay silent,” I hissed, settling myself to sleep on a rented couch. “By the way, I think it’s yours,” I added, tossing her a pillow I was still holding in my hands.

From Scratch (Love Lines #2.5)

The moment our car stopped at the entrance to Christian's house, I regretted coming there. All I wanted was to run away unseen. Eileen would be upset of course, but I doubted I was ready to stand so many fairy lights, smiles, food and wishes.

"Just relax, Evan," Eileen said, watching my inner struggles. Every step to the front door felt like a shot straight to my heart. People were laughing inside the house and the sound of their laughter made me sick. I didn't belong there.

"Sure." I tried to smile, suppressing the impulse to escape. "Keep sneering, Dear. It surely stops me from killing you right away. What the hell, Eileen? You were supposed to be my friend! Kind and understanding. But you dragged my ass here and now you ask me to relax? And the only thing I need to call this night successful is a meeting with our beloved Amanda."

"Everything's gonna be okay, Evan. Don't worry," Christian said. "You know how much my family loves you. They will never make you feel unwelcome."

"Well, thank you, my friend! You always seem to say the right thing to lift my spirits." I rolled my eyes. "I'm pretty sure this time their attempts to cheer me up will end up with me locking myself in one of your rooms to sit out this damn Christmas there."

BOOK REVIEW: From Scratch (Love Lines #2.5) by Diana Nixon

Goodreads description:

Our lives are a cascade of events that pass faster than we would like them to. Time changes everything. Our habits, our views, our circle of friends. But there is one thing that remains the same over the years.
Our memories.
Through them we cherish the most unforgettable moments of our history. And they also retain some things that can't be forgotten….
But one day you realize that yesterday should be left in the past. Because tomorrow your new life begins, and you go back to the drawing board.
A love story of Evan Murray and Tara Mackenzie.
A story that should last forever….
But no one knows when forever ends….

Mary's Review:

OMG! I don't even know where to begin! Well, let me say this:  THANK YOU DIANA!  Right before I was given this book Diana Nixon posted this on her Facebook Page:

Yep, I was one of the people she dedicated the book too.  Talk about *fan girl scream*!!!

Ok, now to the review:

Best Part of the book:  EVAN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Oh, I didn't think that Diana could make me love him anymore BUT I WAS WRONG!  I was able to see Evan in a whole different light.  This was just 60 pages of Evan's and Tara's relationship and I loved every word of it.  With the other books in the series we (as readers) don't not really understand why Evan and Tara relationship ended.  Especially, when I think they are so perfect together.  With this book, we learn the ups and downs of the relationship and why it ended. However, after reading this I began to understand MORE of the interactions of Evan and Tara in the other books.  I really want to go so in depth in this review of the book, but it will spoil those who have not read it. I will say this (again) I love Evan!

Not so great about book:  I will it was longer. I just wanted more Evan!  Other than that, there is nothing wrong with this book!!

MARY'S REVIEW:

I have been waiting for this book since the moment I was done with Book 1: Love Lines.

Best Part of the book: How can I pick just one part or character?!  Each is so unique to the story and the chemistry between the characters is awesome! I love the way Diana writes.  She is very detailed in her story.  You feel what the characters are feeling and you know their surroundings.  I also love that she switches from different POVs.  This way you are not just restricted to one character.  However, about all, I think Evan is still my favorite character.  I saw so much more of him and his family in this story and it just made me love him more.  I love the Eileen is growing stronger and is determined  to find Christian.  I really love that Diana's creativity is beyond measure.  I say this because she takes something so simple (like WIND) and turns it into a major piece of the puzzle.  I love that!!

Not so great about book: UGH! Diana knows how to leave this Book Nerd wanting more.  Just when I thought there was going to be a happy ending *BAM* she throws a twist into the story.  Just like the last book, the beginning is full of twists, puzzles and more questions than answers.  However, she pulls it all together!!

Now I just have to wait for the next book!!

Cover Reveal: Songs of the Wind by Diana Nixon BONUS Character Interview with Evan and a Surprise

I was so happy when Diana Nixon contacted me to be part of the Cover Reveal Party for Songs Of The Wind.  I had recently reviewed book 1 of this series called: Love Lines.  The moment I finished that book I could not wait for this book to be finished.

Songs Of The Wind will be release around the end of November or early December and I cannot wait for it.

Now for the cover:

The full book jacket:

This beautiful book cover was done by Jennifer Munswami.  If you want to see more of her work please click here.

The bonus part of this big cover reveal is an interview with Evan.  Besides Christian, Evan is one of my favorite characters in this series.  He is funny, serious when need to be and a great friend!

Here is the interview:

We know about Christian and Eileen, but we need to know more about you.  So:
What is it like to be a student of Wizardry at Dever?

It's like being the most awesome bad guys in the world with the unlimited permission to cast spells without being punished:) Everyone wants to become Wizardy, because possessing magic is like an out-of-reach dream that people want to make come true. But in reality being Wizardy means so much more than that. Magic lives inside everyone of us, but if we don't learn how to control it, it will turn our life into everyday struggle with ourselves. Our powers are very dangerous. Possessing magic needs more concentration and energy than anything else. If you spend too much energy you will die. But if you learn how to control your powers and impulses your life will be amazing. The main thing here is not to forget that possessing magic is a gift that should be cherished and not to be used to do evil.

How did you meet Christian?

It was a very funny story. Christian burned my eyebrows. Like literally burned them!:) It was Monday morning and we all know that Mondays are 'the best' days of the week. I call them my lucky days. I was going to my classes, but somehow I forgot which audience the first one was going to be in, so I opened the door of the first classroom and was immediately locked in a circle of fire, created by my to-be best friend. As it turned out I wasn't the one who Christian expected to see at the threshold as he was having a practical training where he and his group mate named Paul were learning how to block the unexpected attacks. Of course, I couldn't have expected any attack that morning, so I froze, shocked and the moment I realized what was going on my eyebrows were gone:) The first thought in my head was to him pay back, but then I saw the unbelievably beautiful fiery waves, flowing in the air. I'd never met a person with such a strong power of fire in his hands and I immediately forgot about my revenge. By the way, I still haven't paid him back! I should probably remind Christian of his debt one day:)

We all know that it is crazy right now in Eileen and Christian lives.  Do you a plan to help them that you might be about to share with us?

I wish they were able to do everything on their own, but somehow I'm sure they will mess it up without me:) And I don't want to miss the fun! Besides, Mrs. Lanster still owes me one for hours of my precious time and energy spent on his search. So I can't let him go just like that. And I can't let my friends down no matter how much I want to have at least one day of peace and quiet. Looks like it's not gonna happen any time soon:) Now when we know that Christian has been kidnapped I need to protect Eileen, because if anything happens to her in his absence he will fry me alive for sure:) And I'm so not ready to die right now, and I don't want to lose my best friend. So I will do my best to drag him back from Eric's dream, even if to succeed I will have to sacrifice another few weeks of good sleep:)

Will Tara be helping with this plan at all?

That's the problem that she will! I'm not sure I'm ready to work side by side with her. There were too many memories left in Dever that I can't step over, pretending that nothing has ever happened between us. But as I have already said, I have to be strong and leave my complaints for later as there are too many other people who need my help now. And I will be damned first if I ever show anyone how much I suffered from losing Tara. She dumped me and I still keep wondering why...

We saw that your brother is going to make an appearance in Song of the Wind.  Will there be any other family members?

It looks like my whole family is going to show up out of nowhere:) You will find out more about them and some facts about my life that I would gladly take out of my head forever. Too bad no magic can change our past.

If you could be anything other than a Wizard, who would you be?

I don't think I would ever like to be anyone else. Just kidding, of course:) Sometimes I wish I was just a human living my life the way I wanted it to be and not the way it was predicted by my destiny. We, the creatures of the world of supernatural are hostages of our future. We can change only a small part of it, but the main rules of the game we are all involved in never change. We live, hiding in the mountains, developing our talents until one day we are forced to face the real world, where there is no place for anyone of us, because people like me were not supposed to exist. Though sometimes our super powers help us to fit ourselves to living among humans. Most of Embry students become doctors; Vero graduates can become excellent lawyers, protecting truth and revealing falsehood. Meridins are the best astrologists. But wizards like me will never be able to pretend being normal. That's why we usually get stuck in our secret world forever, working for the Council, teaching new Dever's students or inventing new magical spells. But I want my life to be different and I will do my best to cheat my fate:)

Now for my final question and BIG SURPRISE:

Could we get a sneak peek of some of the adventures that will appear in Song of the Wind?

"All the surroundings were trembling with vivid energy, thunder blasts and lightning. And the mountain we were standing on just a few seconds ago was now falling to pieces right in front of our eyes, turning into a pile of huge spalls. The sky was dark and cloudy. The snow was falling heavily to the ground, mixing everything with mud and water. And the wind was sharp and cold, making us shiver. But we didn’t really care as at that very moment we were crossing the line of reality."

Thank you Diana Nixon for letting be part of this beautiful cover reveal.  Thank you Evan for taking time to speak with me AND giving us a small look into Songs Of The Wind.

Author Interview: Diana Nixon

I was introduced to author Diana Nixon when I read her book Love Lines.  I thought it was a wonderful book and shortly after that Diana agreed to do an interview with me.

1: How did you come up with the story line of Christian and Eileen?

- The main purpose of their romance was to show that true love, love at first sight still exists:) I don’t like it when the events of the book develop too slowly. Someone may say that my story goes too fast, but I like the way it goes:) Though despite the fact that Christian and Eileen’s love can be seen from the very first pages, I still gave them some time to understand their feelings for each other, their magical bond and the way this bond affects all the spheres of their lives. It wasn’t all so perfect. There were quarrels, tears and moment of misunderstanding. But there was also love, a very beautiful, passionate love. Everything about my story was built on emotions and the description of my characters’ feelings. I wanted to make the plot unique and I hope I’ve succeeded:) I also wanted my book to be recognized for something special; something that my readers would be looking forward to read more about.

2: According to your website you will be doing 5 books for the Love Lines series, why 5 books?

- This is the first time someone has asked this question :) The Love lines series is dedicated to my beloved husband. We had been dating for almost five years before we got married and every book was supposed to be my present for him for every one of those years:)

3: What do you love most about writing books?

- I like spending time with my imaginary heroes. I can make them cry or I can make them laugh. The books reflect our most sacred dreams and our worst fears. We can face them or run away from them, but we always like the way we do this:) And sometimes writing seems so much easier than talking! What we can’t form into words we can reflect in a book.

4: Do you have any plans for any more books different than Love Lines? (or is it a secret?)

- It’s not a secret:) I have already talked about my future plans. I’m going to write a trilogy about a girl, a guardian angel. Just as is case of my Love lines series, I want to make this new story unique, so much different from all the book of the same kind:) Well, this is as much as I can tell for now:)

5: Are any of your characters based on anyone in your life? If so, then who?

- No. I didn’t copy anyone I know. I have good friends who give me ideas for my characters. I have very good readers, who give me new ideas for the plot. Sometimes they ask questions the answers to which turn into new dialogs for my books:) All my characters are strong and brave individuals. And even if sometimes they feel otherwise, they know what to do to reach their goals and succeed in everything.

Thank you so much Diana for the interview!

Love Lines (Love Lines #1) by Diana Nixon

Goodreads description:

Love lines series

The traces of supernatural powers have always been crossing the world of human beings. Many people know about the existence of healers, mind readers, oneiromancers and wizards. But for centuries their lives have been kept secret and no one has ever heard about one special place, where those gifted people studied.
Neither has Eileen Clark, whose life has never been different from the one other teenagers have.
But one day everything changes. Eileen finds out that she belongs to the mysterious world of unnatural and the destiny leads her to Dever - a closed university for the people like her.

Nothing will ever be the same again...

New life, new friends, new enemies...

But the true love will never let her down. It will help to go through everything....

#1 - Love lines

The story begins with a strange dream, which has been torturing Eileen for nights. Trying to find out its hidden meaning she leans on her best friend Amanda for help. The two of them go to a fortune-teller, who predicts changes in Eileen's life.
Eileen and Amanda, whose family is one of the seven founders of Dever, go there to start new life and get education. Coming to the university Eileen meets Christian, Amanda's brother, whom she falls in love with from the very first sight. But, as it turns out later, Christian is in love with her too.

They couldn't even imagine that many years ago their lives were bound by magical spells. But now they have to find out why...

Mary's Review:

I was given this book by the author for review.  When I read the blurb I thought it was going to be a good book.  Then when I saw it was almost 500 pages I actually rolled my eyes because I haven't read a book of this size in a LONG TIME! The book actually started out a little bit slow for me.  I thought that there was too much going on and it was not making sense to me.  Then, *BOOM* Diana Nixon pulls it all together and let me just say this: AMAZING!  The story is awesome and it was faster read than expected!

Best Part of Book: There were two thing that I really enjoyed about this book. 1) Christian.  Oh I am such a sucker for a fictional boy and he is one for my list!  His connection to Eileen is an immediate spark.  I loved how he would do anything for her and how she need him as much as he needs her.  Also, I love the backstories on how their love line became what they are now.  It seems confusing at first but Diana Nixon really does pull it together.  2) Th puzzle and the mystery.  Wow! It seems like each chapter pulls in a mystery but adds another piece to the puzzle.  I love all of the characters that are trying to help solve.  Evan and Amanda are very funny together when they nag on each other.

Not so great about the book:  I will say it again, there are some parts confusing, BUT just stick with it because Diana Nixon pulls it all together! Also, do not be scared of the length of the book because once you get into the Christian and Eileen's world you will not want to leave!

I cannot wait for book 2!
