Fractured Innocence
(IFICS #2Freak of Nature)
By Julia Crane
Release Date: December 24, 2013

Blurb/Synopsis

*Warning 17+ due to sexual gritty topic and language.

Kaitlyn and Erik are sent on a mission to track down Vance Dasvoik, a ruthless monster. His latest thrill—abducting and selling young women.

Vance's current victim: Aaliyah, a seventeen-year-old who never imagined walking her brother home from school one evening would change her life forever.

The mission quickly turns personal for Kaitlyn when she finds Aaliyah beaten, her mind and soul fractured from abuse of the worst kind. Kaitlyn knows firsthand what it's like to be haunted by the past and resolves to bring justice to the elusive Dasvoik.

Excerpt
This couldn’t be reality. Had they really been abducted? No! No! No! Please let this be a dream. A nightmare. Please let me wake up and find myself in my own bed. Things like this didn’t happen, not to her. Not to her brother! Certainly not in America
Her family didn’t have money, so she knew this wasn’t about ransom.
Without moving she scanned the room trying to gain her bearings. She was curled up on the floor in the corner of a small room, that much was obvious. Her body ached. She tried to straighten her legs out but they remained bent. She couldn’t even push herself up to sitting.
The walls were white and metal filing cabinets lined the walls. A large wooden desk sat off to the left with a computer. No windows. No pictures or paintings on the wall. Nothing personal whatsoever.
Her eyes continued to dart around the room, finally settling on the men. They were large, wore dark suits and looked scary. One was tall with a hook nose and curly blond hair, the other was short but muscular with a bald head. They were not the same men from the car.
Desperately she tried to fight the panic that rose in her chest once she realized her brother was not in the room with them. Where was he? At least she knew he was alive from their comments. Too young? For what? So many questions and no answers. Maybe if she could figure out where they were they could escape.

GOODREADS

MY REVIEW:

I don't think I can thank Mrs. Potter's enough for this amazing tour!!

I have been a fan of Julia's for a long time and I love the Keegan Chronicles so much.

When I found out about this book I was jumping with joy.

WHAT I LIKED:

I love Rourk and Keegan's relationship and the development of it since their marriage.
I also love that Rourk is still in the military (I love an Elf in uniform).

I can't get over the twist and turns in this short book. Now, I will tell you that life is not easy for
the newlyweds. I am just not talking about relationship stuff either. There is more
happenings in the Elf world that become revealed throughout.

I love that Julia brought back some characters! HELLO THADDEUS!!

WHAT I DID NOT LIKE:

There is one complaint for this book .......... wasn't long enough!!

BLOG TOUR: Freak of Nature by Julia Crane

I have loved Julia Crane's book from the first time I picked up her Coexisted Series!  When I heard about this book I jumped at the chance to be part of this tour!  Trust me, Julia Crane did not disappoint with this book!

ABOUT THE BOOK:

Donate Body to Science. Check.

When seventeen-year-old Kaitlyn checked the box, she never suspected she’d have her life–and her body–stolen from her. She awakens one day in a secret laboratory to discover that her body is now half-robot and is forced to hide her own secret: that she still has human emotions and a human mind. If the scientists who made her find out, they’ll erase what remains of who she was.

Kaitlyn finds an unlikely ally in Lucas, a handsome, brilliant scientist who can’t get over the guilt he feels knowing she was once a vibrant, beautiful young woman. He never expected a science project to affect him the way she does. As he tries to help her rediscover her past, he finds himself falling for the brave girl struggling to find her place and acceptance between the human and computer worlds.

*For mature teens due to some sexual content.

MY REVIEW:

Ok, I was not sure what to think about when I read the blurb of this book.  But, I knew that Julia Crane was amazing and I should not doubt her.  Well, she did not disappoint AT ALL!!

Best part of the Book:

Hello, Lucas!!  I feel that there is another book boyfriend in my life!  But,  I don't want to get ahead of myself!  Kaitlyn died, only to become half-robot.  Even though she can still "feel" she does not tell the doctors because she does not want them to take it away.  They have already taken away so much. Kaitlyn "feels" when she is around Lucas and her friend Quess.  I love Quess because she is so real.  Lucas has a lot of feelings toward Kaitlyn too. He has a lot of doubt for the work he does but he still does it.  I love seeing his struggles in the book!  It made it more real.

Kaitlyn is trained - well programmed - to be a killer.  She is fast, a hot shot and can take down anyone.  However, there are some serious twists and turns in this book that I loved and Kaitlyn is an amazing character!

Not so great about the Book:

Well, I was waiting for some major cliffhanger!  There was a cliffhanger but I thought it would be more "intense".  However, it was still an awesome book and I look forward to the next one.

Anna by Julia Crane

Goodreads description:

Follow Anna from Keegan's Chronicles on her own adventure!

Seventeen-year-old Anna is an unskilled, natural witch still seeking a way to access her magick. When she moves to Seattle for college, she encounters two powerful witches who need her as much as she needs them. For the first time, Anna believes she's found someone who can help her explore her own magick.

Her dream quickly turns into a nightmare.

Creatures of the Light have gone missing, and the witches she admires so well are a part of the mystery.

Before she knows it, Anna is knee deep in the disappearances and trying to forge a relationship with a certain soldier named Tommy, all while trying to find her way. Will she have time to save the creatures of the light or will she become the next victim?

Mary's Review:

I would like to thank the author Julia Crane for giving me this book.  I loved all 3 of Keegan's Chronicles and was so happy that Julia told me that she had done a spin off of Anna.  Anna was Keegan's best friend and just happened to be a natural witch.

Best part of the book: I know Anna is the main point of the book but she really is the best part of the book.  I loved to see herself gain confidence in her abilities as a witch.  At first, she did not have any confidence in herself.  In fact it was kind of sad to read because she was kind of putting herself down.  One of my favorite parts was with her and Tommy.  Another thing that I love is that Anna cares very deeply for those that are disappearing and she does not even know them.

Not so great: I wish there was a little bit more of Tommy and Anna scenes.  I understood that the content of the story was not their personal relationship but it was nice when they were together.

I really enjoyed this book and look forward to reading more by Julia Crane.

Consumed (Keegan's Chronicles #3) by Julia Crane

Goodreads description:

Keegan has dealt with a lot over the last two years: Death, black magic and the loss of her bond to her chosen mate. But on her eighteenth birthday, the bond with Rourk returns.
Rourk longs to be by her side. Though he knows the distance between them causes Keegan physical pain, he wants to give her the time she needs.
Now, Keegan faces her hardest decision. Tradition requires elves marry at eighteen. If she accepts the path laid out for her, she will be spared a lifetime of physical and emotional pain. But will that life ever really be her own?

Mary's Review:

Could Rourk and Keegan finally be together?  Oh I hoped for this the moment I opened it up on my Kindle

Best Part: You think I am going to say Rourk again, don't ya? HA...you are right!  Rourk did win his Chosen One, Keegan back.  I was so happy about this.  I loved Rourk so much more throughout this book because of everything that he did for Keegan.  I also loved that he stuck to the Elfin tradition. I liked that Julia Crane entwined the characters from the series in this book.

Not so great part:  Some parts of the book seemed rushed.  I understand the purpose it but I wish there was more interaction with Donald, Rourk and Keegan.  However, even with that the book was great.

Conflicted (Keegan's Chronicles #2) by Julia Crane

Goodreads description:

In the Elfin world, magic and destiny determine who will be together. "Chosen" pairs are fated to meet at the age of 18.

Keegan, however, is an anomaly. Having fallen in the battle between the Light and the Dark, she is only alive now due to Black Magic, and her bond with her Chosen is broken. She cannot remember Rourk at all.

For the first time, she feels like a normal teenager. She is dating Donald, her long-time crush, and everything seems perfect. But Rourk still feels their bond, and despairs for the woman he was always meant to love.

Keegan’s best friend Anna is determined to find a way to use her powers to return Keegan’s bond, no matter what it takes. The question is does Keegan even want it?

Mary's Review:

Uuuummmmm....what?!?! How could Julia Crane do this to me? Emotional.  Roller.  Coaster.  That is how I would describe this book.  This was a very quick read for me because I could not put it down.

Best Part: I have to say it again....Rourk!  I was #TeamRourk throughout this book.  After Keegan lost her memory, I felt so bad for Rourk and he did the one thing that he knew to do: FIGHT!  However, he did not fight the way that I thought he would.  Instead, he left, to join the human army.  He did this so that Keegan would have some time to herself before her 18th birthday and it was too hard to see her with Donald.  The other part that I loved was Anna and Thaddeus.  I loved that these two teams up to try and bring the bond back together for Keegan and Rourk.

Not so great part: I did not like to see Rourk suffering.  Julia Crane did an amazing job of really showing what Rourk was going through.  I really felt bad for him.

I really enjoyed Book 2.  I cannot wait for Book 3.
