Providence by Jamie McGuire

Good Reads Description:

In the old world shadows of Providence, Rhode Island, Nina Grey finds herself the center of a war between Hell and Earth.

Struggling with her father’s recent death, Nina meets Jared Ryel by chance…or so she believes. Although his stunning good looks and mysterious talents are a welcome distraction, it soon becomes clear that Jared knows more about Nina than even her friends at Brown University. When questions outnumber answers, Jared risks everything to keep the woman he was born to save—by sharing the secret he was sworn to protect.

When her father’s former associates begin following her in the dark, Nina learns that her father is not the man she thought he was, but a thief who stole from demons. Searching for the truth behind her father’s death, Nina stumbles upon something she never expected—something Hell wants—and only she holds the key.

REVIEW: (this review is a little bit of a spoiler)

When I reviewed Jamie McGuire's Beautiful Disaster and did an interview, she told me about her Providence series.  Well, you know me.....give me supernatural characters, a series of books, and at least 1 hot male character and I will read it (haha).  So, I bought the first book, it sat on the Kindle for about 2 weeks and then I started it.

O..M..G..and sweet potato fries this was an awesome first book!  I love the supernatural world but there one set of supernaturals that I love more then anything, angels.  I have a very sick obsession with angels, demons, and religious conspiracy theories. (Seriously, like a really bad obsession!!)

When I started this book I was very sad.  Here is why: Like Nina I have lost my Father and when he past away lots of what I thought I knew were wrong.  Although, it was not to the extent to Nina's dad, Jack, but I could relate to her feelings.

Then walks in Jared....*faints*  She meets him at a bus stop (I know right!) and then begins to see him about town.  However, he keeps his distance from her and she is not sure what to do about that.  All she knows is that she wants to be around him all the time.  Finally, he takes her out on a date - to his home - to talk.

Then it is just one twist and turn from there! This story includes Ryan (who wants to be Nina's boyfriend), Claire (Jared's sister and one kick-butt chick), and many others.  Each character is a special part of Nina's life and it's almost like a puzzle.  I was SHOCKED by how quickly I read this book and HOW GOOD IT WAS!!

I cannot wait for Book 2 - Requiem, which I bought the second I was done with this one.
