BOOK BLAST: Blue Lines by Toni Aleo

Title: Blue Lines (Assassins Series #4)
Author: Toni Aleo
Publication Date: 8/13/2013
Genre: Romance

Book Synopsis:
Opposites do more than just attract in Tony Aleo’s latest Nashville Assassins novel about a very bad boy and the good girl he can’t resist.

The instant Piper Allen sees Erik Titov, she wants him—wants his rock-hard body, sure, but the strength and mystery that lie behind that superstar hockey jock demeanor, too. So when he sidles up to her at a bar and slinks his arm around her waist, she’s lost. What follows is the wildest night of her life . . followed by inevitable heartbreak the next morning. And then, a few weeks later, a very big surprise: two blue lines on a pregnancy test.

Only a check to the head could make Erik fall for a nice girl like Piper. But since their crazy-sexy night together, he’s been trying to forget about her alluring body by falling into bed with every woman in Nashville, and it’s not working. So when Piper shows up at his house with a baby-bomb to drop, it doesn’t take much for Erik to suggest the nuclear option: marriage. While it’s supposed to be all for show, the second they say “I do,” the ice between them starts to melt into sizzling steam.

My Review

WOW WOW WOW WOW!!!! ... WOW!!

I have been a HUGE fan of Toni Aleo's since I picked up her first book Taking Shots. Her talent is unmeasurable and this book proved exactly that.

There is no hockey in this book, and it scared me at first when I heard about it. Because all of Toni's other books are hockey-hot-guys and sex. That's TONI!

WRONG....This is TONI...her talent and magnificent writing pulls you into a world of hurt, despair  and all you want to do is hold Violet close to you .

It's not a secret that I am a survivor of domestic violence myself and Violet touched my heart, deeply.

Her pain with her husband Rob and her pull to Tucker is a story that everyone could relate to. You can relate to her hurt, her pain, and her feelings towards Rob and Tucker. You wanted to scream at her to leave, but if you're not in the situation then you don't know.

Toni's words, scenes, and heart was on every page of this book. I cried with this book and there are a couple parts that I couldn't read because they were just too hard.

This book is amazing!

Hockey Hop: The Re-Release of The Assassins Series

The amazing Toni Aleo is re-releasing the The Assassins Series.

About the books:
Taking Shots:
In Toni Aleo’s exhilarating debut, the first in a series featuring the hockey hunks of the Nashville Assassins, a reformed bad boy helps a charming, willful woman face off against the demons of her past.
No matter how hard she tries, Eleanor Fisher never thinks she’s good enough, from her job to her weight to her love life. After enduring years of abuse at the hands of an ex-boyfriend, Elli has been drifting through life in a daze. Until, that is, she meets Shea Adler on a promotional shoot for the NHL’s Nashville Assassins. Before Elli knows what’s happening, the gorgeous Shea breaks the ice and shatters her world.
A brilliant athlete inside the rink, Shea Adler is tired of the life he’s living outside of it: the girls, the money, the drinking. But everything changes when he meets Elli. After laying eyes on this feisty, witty, beautiful woman, he feels like he’s just taken the hardest hit of his life. No matter how skeptical she is, Shea knows they are meant to be together—if only he can convince Elli to put her insecurities aside throw her insecurities out the window before she misses out on a shot at love.

Trying to Score:
In a captivating novel of hockey and healing hearts, the newest member of the Nashville Assassins pulls a power play to make things right with the one that got away.
Fallon Parker’s dream has always been to turn her family’s wine company into a runaway success and eventually to start a cellar of her own. Since graduating from college, she has worked relentlessly to make that dream a reality, especially after taking a chance on love—and losing. By the time Fallon becomes an official sponsor of the Nashville Assassins, she feels like all her hard work is finally paying off. And then the man who broke her heart skates back into her life.
On the ice, Lucas Brooks is the NHL’s leading scorer—at least when he’s not in the box. Off the ice, he’s a mess, with all his anger and misery bottled up inside. He threw away the most important person in his life and has regretted it ever since. But when Lucas returns to Nashville in a trade, he’s determined to convince Fallon that he’s a changed man. The attraction is still there. The tension is electrifying. But the odds are stacked against them—especially after Lucas finds out that Fallon has been keeping a devastating secret.

Empty Net:
The chiseled men of the Nashville Assassins can make anything happen when they go all-out for the women they want—even turn a one-night stand into a happily ever after.
Audrey Parker is up against the boards. She’s stuck in a job she hates and pining for a total jerk. Meanwhile, her sister Fallon is moving out and getting married to hockey star Lucas Brooks. Where is Audrey’s Prince Charming? Nothing she does has ever seemed to be good enough for any of the men in her life. Audrey’s about to hit rock bottom . . . until she wakes up next to Tate Odder.
The thrill of moving up from the minors to the Nashville Assassins was a welcome distraction. But not even becoming the first rookie goalie to tally three shutouts in the Stanley Cup Finals alleviates the pain. With the loss of his parents and sister weighing as heavily on his soul as ever, Tate Odder can’t keep pretending he’s okay. That’s when he meets smart, sexy Audrey. Her gentle warmth and quirky sense of humor make him feel whole for the first time in too long. But to stay that way forever, Tate must find a way to accept his past and learn to live for love.

Today, I will tell you my top five best kisses.  HEHE!! This is so much fun, but so had to chose.  I have some many!

1.  Elli and Shea, Taking Shots by Toni Aleo:  I loved their first kiss and every kiss they had in the book. Toni Aleo did an amazing job throughout the book describing their love and kisses!  It was H-O-T and sweet!!!!!!!!!!

2.  Jennifer and Decebel, Just One Drop by Quinn Loftis:  If you know me at all, you know that I love Decebel more than anything!! I only share him with Jennifer because I am a nice person.  However, their first kiss was perfection and every kiss, thereafter!!!!!!!!!!!!!

5.  Katy and Daemon, Obsidian by Jennifer Armentrout:  I love this series! Katy and Daemon are perfect together, although their relationship is a bit complex.  However, their first was INSANE and then it was just a roller coaster of emotions after that.

Friday Fictional Boyfriend: Triple Feature: Shea Adler, Lucas Brooks and Tate Odder

Sorry about not posting Friday Fictional Boyfriend the past couple weeks! Real life issues were in the way! So, this week I am going to give you 3....that's right 3....Fictional Boyfriends!!!!!! ENJOY!!!!

Fictional Boyfriend #1: Shea Adler

Oh, Shea, you sexy sexy Captain of the Assassins! I think of all three I love Shea the most.  He stood by Elli with all of her self-esteem issues and her crazy family.  I love that he was patient and kind.  I loved that he fought for Elli no matter and loved her SO Much!!!

The other part that I loved about Shea was when he was on the ice.  OH YEAH! I love me a hockey player that is for sure! He was determined, mean and an excellent player! YUMMY!

Fictional Boyfriend #2: Lucas Brooks

LUCAS BROOKS!! O.M.G!!! I LOVE HIM! Now, you know I am a sucker for a fictional boyfriend and I like a little bit of a "bad boy" but with a good side.  Now, add in the fact he is a hockey player and you have #1 Fictional Boyfriend: Lucas Brooks.

Now, Lucas isn't just a bad boy.  He truly loves Fallon and knows what he wants!

I love that he TRULY fights Fallon and he will do anything for her.  I also love that he is "go big or go home" kind-of guy!  Oh yeah, did I mention he was totally hot and a hockey player!

Fictional Boyfriend #3: Tate Odder

SWEDISH, HOT, YUMMY! That is how I would describe Tate Odder.  Now, he is young, BUT he is extremely young (21) but when has that stopped me when it comes to a fictional boyfriend!

Tate really is a kind person with such a good heart.  He loves Audrey more than anything! He is a good boy all around but a bad-a** goalie on the ice. Oh, did I say he was Swedish! Blonde hair and blue eyes *swoon*!

Empty Net (Assassins #3) by Toni Aleo

Goodreads description:

Definition of an Empty Net: When a team pulls the goalie for an extra attacker, desperately seeking a goal.

Audrey Parker was in a horrible place.
She hated her job, her sister was getting married and moving out, but worst of all, she was in love with a total jerk. No matter what she did, every guy she met hurt her. All she wanted was her happily ever after. Her Prince Charming. Her Lucas Brooks! She didn’t know how to change her life but she knew she needed too.
Feeling like she was about to hit rock bottom, Audrey wakes up next to Tate Odder.

Tate Odder had lost everything.
After being brought up from the Assassins’ farm team, the Florida Rays to the Nashville Assassins, Tate hopes he’ll forget everything he has lost. He doesn’t. Each day gets harder to live in a place he doesn’t know. Even being the first rookie goalie to shut out an opposing team three times during the Lord Stanley Cup Finals, he still felt empty. With the loss of his parents and sister still heavy on his heart, Tate isn’t sure how to live like everything is okay.

But when he wakes up beside Audrey Parker, things start to change. She turns his life upside down with her kooky sense of humor and her bright clothing. She is intelligent and beautiful, and for once, he doesn’t feel empty.
Will Audrey be the person to fill the holes in Tate’s heart, making him whole again?
Or will another player ruin everything, leaving him feeling forever like an empty net?

Mary's Review:

Mandy I Read Indie again did not disappoint when she told me this was the best of the series (thus far).

Again, there is adult content in this book.

Best part of the book:  Tate Oooooodder.  Yes, oh yes, Mr. Sweden is beyond perfect for Audrey.  I love every interaction, word and "moves" that Tate does throughout this book!  I love how (even though he is 21) he is very mature.  My heart broke for him when I learned about his past and cheered for him when he was on the ice!  I loved Audrey.  Even with all her insecurities and doubts she was really "grew" throughout this book.  I loved it!

Not so great about book:  I was warned that I would need tissues while reading this book.  (Everyone knows I am a crier).  Even though I did shed tears throughout this book, both happy and sad, this was nothing that was wrong with this book! I will be rereading this again and again!

I cannot wait for what is in store from Toni Aleo.  Trust me I will be reading more of her books!

Trying to Score (Assassins #2) by Toni Aleo

Goodreads description:

Fallon Parker’s dream was to have her family’s wine company at the top of all wine magazines and to have a cellar of her own. After graduating from college, she has worked hard to make that dream a reality, even if that meant having a nonexistent love life. She had her chance at love and that was a bust, so she put everything into the wine company. After becoming the official sponsor of the Nashville Assassins, Fallon finally feels like everything is falling in place, that is until Lucas Brooks comes back into her life.

Lucas Brooks hates his life. He is lonely, he is sober, and he is angry. On the ice, when he’s not in the sin bin, he the leading scorer in the NHL but off the ice, he is a mess. He threw away the most important person in his life, and has regretted it ever since but when Lucas sees Fallon again after being traded to the Assassins; he is bound and determined to get her back. Even if she wants nothing to do with him.

The sexual tension between Fallon and Lucas is electrifying as Lucas tries to convince Fallon that he is a changed man. Fallon tries to resist Lucas, but it is so hard when all her body wants is his. But when Lucas finds out that Fallon has been keeping a huge secret from him, the game he is playing stops and penalties are called.

With new rules and new players on the ice, will Fallon and Lucas be able to work out their differences and work as a team or will they be left trying to score alone.

Mary's Review

Mandy I Read Indie is one of my favorite Book Pimps and this book recommendation was so good!

Again, just a warning, this book has adult content in it.

Now, let talk more about Hockey Hotness!

Best part of book:  HELLO LUCAS BROOKS! Boy oh Boy do I love a bad-boy hockey player and Lucas Brooks is just that.  Well, sort of! He is all "big and bad" on the ice but there is so much more to him.  I loved how Toni Aleo showed more to Lucas than just his "bad-boy" side.  I got to see him in a sensitive way.  I also thought he dealt with Fallon's secret very well. As well as can be expected.  As I kept reading I fell more and more in love with Lucas! He was a great character!

Not so great:  I liked Fallon at the end of the book more than the beginning of the book.  I understand that Lucas hurt her and she should have been upset but there was a bigger picture and she was just so stubborn! It got a little bit annoying at times.  I just wanted to shake her and say "HELLO! can you please stop it?"

But that is not going to stop me from reading Book 3: Empty Net
